Someone called Danny suggested the identification on the Corticioid fungi website.
The specimen will eventually go to the Queensland Herbarium.
The fungus was growing on the underside of a small branch that had fallen to the ground in a shaded area beneath some trees. It produced a white rot in the wood.
Spores are yellowish in water, Q value of 1.74 so ellipsoid to elongate in shape, smooth with a small apiculus and and some with guttules. Average size about 8 – 4.5 um.
