Ang Loxodon macrorhinus sakop sa kahenera nga Loxodon sa kabanay nga Carcharhinidae.[7][8] Giklaseklase sa IUCN ang espesye sa kinaminosang kalabotan.[1] Pagka karon wala pay siak nga nalista ubos niini niya.[7]
