English: A lichen - Ochrolechia parella. This is a species that is commonly found on acid rocks. The example shown here was growing on red sandstone in a disused quarry ( 1050247); several other examples of the same species occurred nearby.
Growth rings are often present at the margin, as is the case here. The lichen is usually grey; the unusual pink colouration seen here is a consequence of its growing upon red sandstone.
