Peace
We cannot achieve world peace without first achieve peace within ourselves...Inner Peace. In an atmosphere of hatred, anger, competition and violence, no lasting peace can be achieved. These negative and destructive forces must be overcome by compassion, love and altruism, which are the essential teaching of the Buddha.
The Paradox of Our Age
We have bigger houses, but smaller families;
More conveniences, but less time;
We have more degrees, but less sense;
More knowledge, but less judgement;
More experts, but more problems;
More medicine, but less healthiness.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour.
We build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but less communication;
We have become long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are times of fast food, but slow digestion;
Tall men, but short character;
Steep profit, but shallow relationship.
It's a time when there is much in the window, but nothing in the room.
Never Give Up
Never give up; No matter what is going on, never give up. Develop the heart; Too much energy in your country is spent developing the mind instead of the heart. Be compassionate; not just to your friends, but with everyone. Be compassionate; work for peace; in your heart and in the world. Work for peace. And I say it again, never give up. No matter what is happening, no matter what is going on around you. Never give up.
Tolerance
The person who has a tremendous reserve of patience and tolerance has a certain degree of tranquility and calmness in his and her life. Such a person is not only happy and more emotionally grounded, but also seems to be physically healthier and to experience less illness. The person possesses a strong will, has a good appetite and can sleep with a clear conscience.
