DeskripsyonMoonlit stars at patuha trig.jpg
English: Taken moments after midnight from the summit of Patuha (684 m), the highest top on the Kaitake Range. A very bright waxing gibbous Moon lit the trig beacon and also illuminated the distant Pouakai Range and a cloudy Mount Egmont / Taranaki.
I took about an hour to walk from Lucy's Gully via the Waimoku Ridge to reach the summit of Patuha. The trek through the native bush is quite exhilarating especially when using a dull headlamp to illuminate the way. Sadly, I didn't encounter any kiwi on the ascent or descent.
