This species is NOT the Leprea lapidaria from the South West African coast, described by H. Augener (1918). Polychaeta. Beiträge zur Kenntnis der Meeresfauna Westafrikas. 2(2): 67–625, here pp. 518–521, and synonymized as Leprea (Terebella) lapidaria Augener, 1918 with Terebella schmardai Day, 1934 (WoRMS, G. Read & K. Fauchald).

It is the Leprea lapidaria from locations in the Mediterranean and at the French and British Atlantic coast, redescribed by Emil Edler von Marenzeller (1884): Zur Kenntniss der adriatischen Anneliden. Dritter Beitrag. Terebellen (Amphitritea Mgrn.) Sitzungsberichte der Akademie der Wissenschaften, mathematisch-naturwissenschaftliche Klasse 89, pp. 151–215, diagnosis of Leprea lapidaria on pp. 184–185.
