English: Verny Park located in Yokosuka, Japan , is a beautiful seaside park near JR Yokosuka Station designed with French style gazebos, flower beds, fountains, and a long promenades, named after a French naval engineer François Léonce Verny under the Tokugawa Shogunate(徳川幕府, Tokugawa Bakufu) administered the construction of Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in 1865. The park includes the '“Verny Commemorative Museum”' in appreciation for his great achievements. A huge steam-hammer originally made in Holland and then imported to Japan from France in 1866 is exhibited at the museum. This park is well kept, very clean and next to the water, a mall and coffee shops. Japanese and US navy ships moored in the area and roses are very nice to take pictures of. Great for a short walk and relax from the daily grind or it would be nice for a casual date.
