It's true, bay, I must admit. From experience, I've always had to click on Bisan unsang panid several times before a page that has nothing to do with French communes turns up. However, I think that we should simply allow these pages to continue existing because they do serve as a starting point for any future improvements or expansions. (If I remember correctly, the Italian Wikipedia has thousands of bot-generated articles on Spanish cities, and they've been allowed to stay.)

My only concern would be, I guess, is whether their continued existence and maintenance by bots is eating up tangible resources. If so, then I would consider mass deletion.

Wikimania 2012

Since my knowledge of Cebuano is limited, I have no choice but to respond in English.

Sorry guys, but the Wikimania 2012 bid was scrapped. The WMPH Board felt that it wasn't ready yet to host an event of that magnitude. A Cebu Wikimania bid has been floated several times since 2007 (for Wikimania 2008, which was ultimately held in Alexandria), and hopefully, if the Board views favorably upon it, we can launch a bid for Wikimania 2013 next year.

However, I would like to invite the Cebuano Wikipedians to apply for scholarships for Wikimania 2011, which will be held in Haifa, Israel in August next year. The application period for scholarships will open on January 1, and several Filipino Wikipedians have expressed their intention to apply (I submitted a proposal for a discussion on the language policies of the Tagalog Wikipedia, which is a separate process). If all works out well, we hope that we can send a more solid Filipino contingent next year, representative of at least all the Philippine-language projects, and we can apply some of the lessons that we can learn there to the projects back here at home. --Sky Harbor ^(hisgot) 07:52, 24 Nobiyembre 2010 (UTC)

Language support group for Cebuano

The Wikimedia Foundation has brought together a new team of developers who are dedicated to language support. This team is to support all the languages and consequently it is not realistic to expect that the team members can provide proper support for your language. It is for this reason that we are looking for volunteers who will make up a language support team.

This language support team will be asked to provide us with information about their language. Such information may need to be provided either to us or on a website that we will indicate to you. Another activity will be to test software that will likely have an effect on the running of the MediaWiki software. We are looking for people who clearly identify their ability. Formal knowledge is definitely appreciated.

2011 Fundraising Is Almost Here

Hello Wikipedians, my name is Alex and I am working for the Wikimedia Foundation during the 2011 Fundraiser. This year's fundraiser is intended to be a collaborative and global effort; we recognize that messages which may perform well in the United States don't necessarily translate well, or appeal to international audiences.

I'm contacting you as I am currently looking for volunteers who are willing to contribute to this project by helping translate and localize messages into your local language, suggesting community appeals for us to use, and to provide us with feedback on the Fundraising Meta Page. We've started the setup on meta for both translation, statistical analysis, and local discussion and testing. We actively encourage focusing discussion on meta so we can all work together.
